JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Communications Agency Director Cammie Haney recently issued a release stating their agency is celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week. Locally, folks can “Adopt a Dispatcher.” Find the release below:

(Press Release from the Grant County Emergency Communications Agency)

NPSTW honors our heroes under the headset for the work they do 24/7/365.

While we try every day to make sure our Communications Officers feel special, NPSTW is a time that we can really show them how much they mean to the community. It gives us a special week to honor the men and women of 9-1-1 who serve our community tirelessly by answering emergency calls, dispatching Law, Fire, and EMS, and rendering life-saving assistance to those in need.

This year to show some extra appreciation, consider “Adopting a Dispatcher”! This is a special way for the community to thank each individual for the work that they do. Appreciation can be shown by handwritten notes or cards, small gifts or gift cards. We also love a good colored picture from some of our tiny Grant County citizens as well 😍🖍️🎨

We are excited to see how creative our community can be! Adopting a Dispatcher is ideal for individual families, work/office professionals, church groups, friend groups or anyone else who would like to participate.

Here is what you need to do:

Send an email to haneyc@grantcounty-or.gov and request to adopt a dispatcher.

We will assign one to you and email you back! Easy peasy!

Packages can be mailed to:

316 S Canyon Blvd.

John Day, OR 97845

If choosing drop-off, you can do so at the same location (John Day Fire Department). Please come between the hours of 8 am-6pm.

Thank you for all you do to support our agency every day of the year! And thank you a bunch for helping us make 2023’s National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week, the best one yet!
