LA GRANDE โ€“ Harmful substances refer to more than just illicit/illegal drugs. Over the counter and prescription medications can be harmful if abused or if they are consumed after theyโ€™ve expired. To help prevent drug misuse in the community, the La Grande Police Department is once again hosting a free community drug take back day!

On Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the LGPD will have a booth set up in the La Grande Safeway parking lot where the community can drop off unused prescription and over the counter drugs for safe disposal. Accepted items include things like pills, capsules, creams, or even pet medications, along with other over the counter and prescription substances.

Note that items such as needles, chemotherapy medications, vapes with batteries, and any kind of illegal drug will not be accepted.

Drug drop-off is completely free and is a safe way for the community to help prevent substance abuse, addiction, or accidental ingestion.
