PENDLETON – Unseasonably hot and dry conditions will continue this week across the Lower Columbia Basin, the eastern Columbia River Gorge, and the Kittitas Valley. The heat will also be experienced into the foothills of the Blue Mountains.
High temperatures are expected to linger into the coming weekend and beyond. Meanwhile, forecasters say there are slight chances for storms bearing lightning across Central Oregon and into the eastern mountains.
Meteorologist Camden Plunkett says that there is a 75 percent chance or higher that daytime highs will be 95 degrees or more through Thursday. He added that the chances of seeing high temperatures through Sunday, July 21 are below 25 percent.
“There is no real relief in sight,” Plunkett said. “Assuming the probabilities of 95 (degrees) hold and those temperatures materialize, this will be one of the longer stretches of 95 or greater on record for Pendleton.”
