PENDLETON โ€“ The Hamley Giving Tree has grown this year. Hundreds of children are still waiting for their holiday wishes to come true. Umatilla County CARE Specialist Maggie King says the need is greater than ever before.

โ€œFamilies right now are struggling โ€“ working low minimum wage jobs and theyโ€™re basically scraping by with how high rent is, and groceries,โ€ King said.

The two trees are filled with Christmas wishes. Shoppers can take a tag and make a dream come true. Unwrapped gifts need to be returned to the Hamley Western Store on Southeast Court Avenue in Pendleton by Dec. 9.

Santaโ€™s helpers benefit by bringing Christmas magic without hope to someone. They will also be entered to win a certificate from the 12 Days of Dining from Wildhorse Resort and Casino. Those winners will be notified on Dec. 10.

The Hamley Giving Tree(s) are sponsored by Wildhorse and Elkhorn Media Group. Itโ€™s an annual tradition thanks to partnerships with the Pendleton School District, the Oregon Department of Human Services, and Umatilla County CARE.
