ELGIN – (Release from the Elgin Stampeders Association) he Elgin Stampeders Association has been awarded three separate grants totaling $117,500.
AgWest Farm Credit, through the Local Advisory Committee (LAC) Guided Stewardship program, awarded the Elgin Stampeders Association $100,000 to go toward the new Elgin Stampede Community Hall project, which has an expected completion date of late 2026 to mid-2027.
The Robert W. Chandler Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation awarded the Elgin Stampede Association $15,000 for a new digital community sign and bicycle repair kiosk.
In addition to these two grants, the Roundhouse Foundation of Sisters, Oregon, learned about the digital community sign and bicycle repair kiosk project through the Oregon Community Foundation and wanted to support this worthwhile endeavor, so offered a grant in the amount of $2,500.
The Elgin Stampeders Association would like to express their gratitude to these three Oregon organizations for their support and are looking forward to completing these projects in a timely manner.
The Elgin Stampeders Association is committed to continually improving the Elgin Stampede Grounds through annual projects. Recently, significant updates included the construction of a new announcer booth, a brand-new arena, and the installation of new water lines.
In the past twenty years there have been significant improvements made to the Stampede Grounds including new vinyl fencing bordering Highway 82, a new concession stand, otherwise known as Odies, located west of the VIP area, a new food and beverage concession stand named Chute 9, and a new furnace for the Stampede Hall. The Stampeders have also added two new roof covers for potential future expansion. One of these covers’ features new VIP seating on the south end of our main bleachers, while the second roof cover, located to the north of our main bleachers, includes additional new bleacher seating. A new ticket booth which serves as the main entrance for visitors, a new PRCA secretary’s building, a new structure over our VIP area, new log structure for sponsor signs display, new lighted reader board, new grounds electrical to include new arena lights, new Stampede secretary office, and a newly constructed log frame entryway.
