PENDLETON – It’s back. The Blue Mountain Forest Plan was withdrawn after about 15 years on working on revisions to the plan for the future of the Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, and Malheur national forests. Public Affairs Officer Darcy Weseman says it went back to the drawing board and a discussion of new revisions will begin this year.
“When we do that, there will be a series of opportunities for the public to participate in open houses or to share feedback with us,” she said.
She said the opportunities for public input will be publicized in advance.
“There’s going to be a chance for the public to participate in open houses or to share feedback with us,” she said. “We really want people to be involved and share their input on what they see are the management’s needs on the landscape to help us in this process.”
She said people can also contact the forest office closest to them and ask to be added to a notification list for updates on the Blue Mountain Forest Plan.
