HARNEY COUNTY-The American Red Cross are looking for non-profits, churches, community groups, agencies, clubs, or anyone else who are interested in being that first wave of hospitality for evacuees on what is likely one of their toughest days.

From the time in Harney County this past April the American Red Cross recognizes how meaningful it is when locals or familiar faces are on site to welcome people to shelters.

The American Red Cross will be offering trainings for community partners who wish to work with the Red Cross to open shelters when folks are evacuated from their homes due to disasters. Training will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 10:00 am-11:30 am and a second training session from 4:00 pm-5:30 pm at the Elks Lodge located at 118 N Broadway Ave, Burns, Or 97720.
