Ten years in the making, Wallowa Land Trust seeks accreditation renewal

WALLOWA COUNTY – Earlier this week, Wallowa Land Trust Executive Director Kathleen Ackley announced that the trust is officially seeking an accreditation renewal through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. Initially earning the prestigious status in 2016, the trust once again hopes to prove its high standards, accountability, and dedication to land conservation and preservation.

The full stakeholder public notice released by the trust is as follows:

(Announcement from the Wallowa Land Trust)

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Wallowa Land Trust is pleased to announce it is applying for accreditation renewal. A public comment period is now open.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. Being accredited means adhering to the most rigorous national standards for the permanent land conservation and stewardship.

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Wallowa Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/…/indicator-elements.
