WALLA WALLA – A College Place man arrested last summer and charged with 11 felony child pornography charges was sentenced Monday in Walla Walla County Superior Court on only one of the charges. The other charges were dismissed.
Aaron Louis Morgan, 35, was sentenced to 12 months in prison. He is entitled to 269 days credit for time served prior to sentencing. According to documents, the court found what it termed substantial and compelling reasons that justified an exceptional sentence below the standard range, which included Morgan’s willingness to engage in treatment. He must also register as a sex offender with the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office.
Morgan was arrested June 18, 2021, following an investigation that began March 24, 2021, when Microsoft reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a user had uploaded files containing depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct onto a Microsoft OneDrive account.
As the Walla Walla Police Department began to investigate, Charter Communications provided an IP address to a computer at a residence on the 200 block of Northeast Ash Avenue in College Place where the images were allegedly uploaded.
Working with the College Place Police Department, the Walla Walla Police Department confirmed Morgan lived at the address and executed a search warrant. Morgan wasn’t home at the time law enforcement searched his residence. Detectives met Morgan at work, arrested him, and seized his cellphone where several illicit images and videos were found. Morgan entered into a felony plea agreement on January 25.
