WALLA WALLA – City of Walla Walla Public Works reports the Rose Street and Colville Street intersection will be closed (tomorrow) Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the removal of the existing traffic signals and activation of the signalized pedestrian crossing. Detour routes will be in place using a combination of Second Avenue, Poplar Street, and Palouse Street.
This work is in coordination with the Rose Street Pavement Preservation and Signal Modification
Project, which includes upgrading traffic signals at seven intersections. Additionally, pedestrian
beacons will be installed at the intersections of Rose Street with Avery Street and Colville Street.
A traffic analysis determined that the Colville Street intersection did not meet the requirements for a traffic signal. As a result, pedestrian Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be
installed, replacing the existing signal with to enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic flow.
This change also resulted in an estimated cost savings of $350,000 for the project.
