Temporary fix restores access to Walla Walla County Jail rosters

WALLA WALLA – A technical glitch stemming from a recent software upgrade has disrupted the Walla Walla County Jail’s public live inmate roster.

A multi-agency regional consortium—comprising law enforcement and fire agencies across Walla Walla and Columbia counties, as well as Milton-Freewater — transitioned to a new cloud-based software system on July 7. The consortium selected the records management system (RMS) by Tyler Technologies of Plano, Texas to replace its older, server-based computer aided dispatch (CAD) and booking software, which was nearing its end of life.

While officials noted the new system improves overall booking and release operations, the software transition unexpectedly broke key public interfaces, including the live online jail roster.

In response, local technology teams from Walla Walla County and the Walla Walla Police Department have implemented a temporary workaround. Since July 7, two lists: the “Jail Roster,” showing current inmates, and the “Historical Jail Roster,” listing individuals housed and released since July 7, have been published at https://www.wwcowa.gov/government/corrections/index.php under the Inmate Roster tab.

“We did not anticipate that the new system would disrupt all of the interfaces we had connected to the old system,” Jail Commander Steve Barker said in a statement.

Tech crews and software developers from Tyler Technologies are working to restore a live, continuously updating roster connection.
