WALLA WALLA – Eros Emiliano Patterson, 18, of Kennewick was sentenced Monday in Walla Walla County Superior Court to 15 years in prison. He, along with two other defendants, also from Kennewick, were arrested for their involvement in the 2022 fatal stabbing of Miguel Perez Barragan, 24, in Walla Walla.
Patterson, who was 16 at the time of the stabbing, was charged as an adult, and later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. On Monday, Patterson was also sentenced to three years community custody upon his release, received credit for time already served including time served in the juvenile system. He’s also to have no contact with the victim’s family.
The other two defendants, Kenny Stephen Sanchez-Garcia, 18, was sentenced to more than 16 years in prison and the third defendant, who was 14 at the time of the stabbing, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder as a juvenile and was sentenced to confinement in the juvenile system until he’s 21.
All three defendants were ordered by the court to pay restitution to cover Barragan’s burial expenses.
Barragan’s remains were discovered off Kibler Road northeast of Walla Walla on July 5, 2022. Court documents state Barragan was murdered on or around June 29, 2022. After Barragan’s body was found, police received a tip that one of the suspect’s brothers watched a video of Barragan being stabbed. Further investigation led detectives to learn the three teens allegedly shared Instagram messages admitting to the murder and said they needed to flee to the Tri-Cities to avoid arrest.
