WALLA WALLA – A teenage juvenile suspect was sentenced Wednesday for his role in two May 2025 shots fired incidents in Walla Walla. The incidents involved firing at a bicyclist, narrowly missing him, then wounding another male in the leg. Investigators linked the teen and Eduardo Chavez Contreras, 27, of Walla Walla to the crimes via surveillance and shell casings.

The juvenile received a sentence for felony second-degree assault, including 12 months for a firearm enhancement plus 15 to 36 weeks. He will serve his time in a state rehabilitation facility and must later register as a felony firearm offender.

Meanwhile, charges against Chavez Contreras were dismissed. A procedural error occurred when the court failed to set a trial date within the required 60 days of his arraignment, leading to a granted motion to dismiss.
