HERMISTON – A building sustained serious damage early Sunday morning after a
juvenile drove a car completely inside the structure.

Hermiston Police said a 17-year-old female was driving a Chevrolet Cruze when she
lost control and crashed into the building at 750 W. Hermiston Ave. just before 6 a.m.

The driver told officers she was trying to stop for another vehicle but accidentally hit the
accelerator. She was taken into custody on a reckless driving charge and transported to
the police station, where she began vomiting.

Medics were called to the station, and the suspect was taken to Good Shepherd
Health Care System for treatment. A blood draw revealed the presence of cocaine and
methamphetamine, which the driver later admitted to using before getting behind the
wheel, police said.

The driver was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving,
driving without an operator’s license, and driving uninsured. She was released to a
guardian.
