The Washington State Department of Corrections will conduct a pre-sentencing investigation. Walla Walla County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney April King said Sanchez-Garcia’s sentencing is set for Oct. 21, but that it may get continued if DOC has not finished the pre-sentencing investigation by that time.
Sanchez-Garcia, who was 16 at the time of the stabbing, is being charged as adult.
As for the other two defendants, Eros Emiliano Patterson, 18, awaits a DOC pre-sentencing investigation as he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last month in adult court. Patterson will be sentenced Dec. 2.
The third defendant, who was 14 at the time of the stabbing, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder as a juvenile last month. On Oct. 11, the teenage boy was sentenced to confinement in the juvenile system until 21 years old which is the maximum age for juvenile jurisdiction in Washington.
