Teen booked for vehicular homicide following fatal Kennewick motorcycle crash

KENNEWICK — A 19-year-old woman faces vehicular homicide charges following a fatal collision between a car and a motorcycle Sunday night, authorities said.

Kennewick police and fire personnel responded to the crash near the intersection of Columbia Drive and Jean Street just before 8 p.m. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcycle rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Investigators determined that the driver of the vehicle, Valeria Benitez-Hernandez, showed signs of impairment at the scene. Police arrested Benitez-Hernandez, and she was later booked into the Benton County Jail.

The Kennewick Police Department traffic unit is investigating the crash and asks anyone with information to contact authorities.
