MILTON-FREEWATER – Milton-Freewater police officers had to deploy a Taser to get Ramon Luis Zaragosa into custody Thursday afternoon at the Way Side Market. The department received information that indicated Zaragosa, who was wanted on both Oregon and Washington warrants was a passenger in a vehicle at the market.
Officers arriving at the scene confirmed that Zaragosa was indeed in the vehicle. Interim Police Chief Joe Shurtz said that when officers made contact with the suspect, he tried to get into the driver’s seat of the Dodge Journey and drive off. Police entered the vehicle and prevented that. They deployed a Taser and took the suspect into custody.
Shurtz said that methamphetamine and fentanyl pills were seized from the suspect. Two officers suffered minor injuries due to broken glass in the incident.
He is charged with resisting arrest, felony attempt to elude, possession of fentanyl, four counts of third-degree attempted assault, and five counts of reckless endangerment in addition to the warrants.
