RICHLAND, Washington – A 28-year-old man has been booked into the Benton County Jail on multiple charges after acting suspiciously Wednesday morning near an elementary school, jumping fences, and hiding from law enforcement under the deck of a home.
A paraeducator at Amon Creek Elementary School, along with a concerned parent, notified the school safety officer of a man dressed in all black, wearing what was described as tactical gear. He was reported to have a backpack with him, and was doing karate motions in the air in a field adjacent the school.
Both Richland and Kennewick officers arrived and found Jacob Corbin, 28, jumping fences in the 8600 block of West Third Avenue.
Corbin crawled under the deck of a home and refused to come out. Officers used a neighbor’s saw to cut a hole into the porch and take Corbin into custody. He was found to have a garment around his waist which is commonly used to house rifle magazines, but it was empty, and Corbin was not armed.
Corbin was booked into the Benton County Jail for three counts of second-degree criminal trespass, obstructing a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and possession of methamphetamine.
