WALLA WALLA – Firefighters responded early Tuesday morning to a residential structure fire on the 1100 block of West Elm Street in Walla Walla. Investigators said the fire appears to be suspicious, but that the cause remains under investigation.
When firefighters arrived on scene at 2:36 a.m., they found the rear portion of the single-story home on fire. The wind-driven fire had progressed to the attic. The home was boarded up and unoccupied. Firefighters confirmed there was nobody inside. No other structures were threatened by the fire.
One firefighter was treated on scene for minor fatigue.
Property and content losses are estimated at $46,500.
