WALLA WALLA – Firefighters responded Wednesday night to a fire at a former motel in downtown Walla Walla. The Walla Walla Fire Department responded to the former Budget Inn, 305 N. Second Ave. at 7:11 p.m.

Deputy Chief Eric Wood said the fire is under investigation, but that the motel is not occupied. He explained that transients have been living within some of the rooms, including the one where the fire originated.

“There was a fire in a room located on the first floor which then spread to an adjacent room,” Wood said.

The fire is suspicious in nature and anyone with information should contact the Walla Walla Police Department at 509-527-1960.

According to Walla Walla County Property Search, the owner is listed as CV The Vintage LLC.
