Suspected Fentanyl Found at Central School (La Grande) Leads to Arrests

LA GRANDE – See releases below from both the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the La Grande School District.

(Release from the Union County Sheriff’s Office) On October 24th, 2022, the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a report of suspected illegal pills located by staff at the La Grande School District (Central School). A Deputy responded and located a pill bottle with a large amount of suspected Fentanyl pills contained inside. The pills were located in a seven-year-old students’ belongings. Upon further investigation the parents of the seven-year-old were contacted and interviewed regarding the suspected fentanyl pills. During the course of the investigation both parents of the seven-year-old were taken into custody.

(25-year-old) Troi Linn O’Quinn of La Grande was arrested and charged on the following charges:

(ORS 167.222) Frequenting a Place Where Controlled Substances Are Used.

(28-year-old) Attoway Reeder Davis of La Grande was arrested and charged on the following charges:

(ORS 167.222) Frequenting a Place Where Controlled Substances Are Used.

(ORS 163.575) Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.

(ORS 475.752) PCS Controlled Substances Fentanyl.

(ORS 163.195) Reckless Endangering.

The Department of Human Services was contacted for the safety of the children and are involved in the investigation. This case is ongoing and still under investigation. No further details are available for release at this time.

In response to community interest to the media release from Sheriff Bowen https://www.facebook.com/UnionCountyORSheriff. An incident related to suspected fentanyl pills located in a student backpack did take place at Central Elementary.Due to questions and concerns La Grande School District would like to add information and clarify our process for communication.Within minutes of arrival to school our staff was in possession of the pills. Once notified our staff was able to follow school procedures and work with law enforcement as we worked hand in hand to investigate. As this became an adult investigation our law enforcement and other health and safety agencies took appropriate action.page1image25395200
La Grande School District does not typically make public statements to the community or the school community when parents get arrested.School safety/student safety is a paramount focus and responsibility of our school district, in this case our training and procedures worked effectively to remove the pills from our school environment.Due to privacy rights and confidentiality concerns, La Grande School District does not typically make public statements related to drug or alcohol related offenses. Especially if the focus is on parent behavior or on pending adult investigations.La Grande School District is proud of the student who did the right thing by informing our staff. We are also proud of our staff for swiftly notifying law enforcement.
