UPDATE:  Travis Sprague has been arrested in La Grande and is being booked into the Union County Jail.

LA GRANDE – (Information provided by the La Grande Police Department)  On Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 8:56pm, the La Grande Police Department 911 Dispatch Center received a report from a person in the 1700 block of Glacier Avenue, stating they had just been shot at while standing in front of their  residence. While officers were responding, an additional 911 call came in from a separate residence in the same block on Glacier. The second caller reported the suspect had just entered their residence and held them at gunpoint, while demanding keys to their vehicle.

LGPD officers arrived within moments and contacted the callers. Officers quickly learned that the male suspect, believed to be Travis James Sprague (24-yoa), from Baker County, was unknown to both callers. A multi-agency comprehensive search commenced immediately. La Grande Police Officers and Detectives received assistance from Union County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and K-9 Molly and from Oregon State Police Troopers.

Fortunately, no one was physically injured from either residence and the stolen keys were to a vehicle parked inside of a garage, so it was not stolen. The stolen vehicle keys and the illegally altered shotgun that had been fired at the first caller were located within a short distance. Additional items of evidence were also found. At the time of this release, Sprague has not been located.

Sprague is also suspected of recent criminal activity in Baker City, Oregon and has active felony warrants for his arrest. He should be considered armed and dangerous and we urge the public to not initiate contact with him if he is seen… rather, call 911 immediately.

Sprague is a white male, he is 5’11” tall, weighs 185 lbs., and has blue eyes and brownish/blonde hair. He has tattoos on his face, neck, both hands, left forearm, and right calf. Both of his ears are pierced. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans.  This is an active and ongoing investigation. If you have information or know the whereabouts of Sprague, please contact the La Grande Police Department at 541-963-1017.
