Suspect in 2021 alleged group attack in Walla Walla now in custody

UMATILLA COUNTY – David Nehemiah Thompkins, 19, of Pendleton, a suspect in a July 2021 group attack in Walla Walla, is now in custody. He was arrested Sunday at McKay Reservoir in Umatilla County fishing without a license.

Oregon State Police issued a citation for his fishing license, then Thompkins was lodged into the Umatilla County Jail for having an outstanding felony warrant out of Walla Walla County.

Thompkins is accused of joining a group of eight that were allegedly organized by his father, Charles Thompkins Jr., also of Pendleton, in going to Walla Walla on July 5, 2021, to confront people at a location on Prospect Avenue believed to have stolen a vehicle.

The younger Thompkins faces multiple charges including assault, burglary, and robbery.

During the July 2021 confrontation, shots were fired, and a fight broke out which resulted in three people being injured.
