KENNEWICK – The Kennewick Police Department reports U.S. Marshals arrested Timothy P. Barnett, 41, on a nationwide extraditable warrant for the alleged crime of first-degree manslaughter Monday evening. The victim is a two-month-old girl that authorities said Barnett was caring for back in 2021.
Kennewick police officers were dispatched September 14, 2021 at 6:38 a.m. to a breathing stoppage of a two-month-old girl at an apartment on the 4300 block of West Hood Avenue. Personnel from the Kennewick Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but the young girl died at the scene.
An investigation continued and included an autopsy and consultations with several medical professionals. The led to probable cause for the arrest of Barnett. Detectives worked with the Benton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and a warrant was issued for Barnett’s arrest.
Barnett was arrested without incident in Kennewick and has been booked into the Benton County Jail.
