PENDLETON – The Pendleton School District Board of Directors has set Monday, March 29 as the date sixth through 12th grade students will return to their classrooms for part of each school day. Administrators are already preparing.
“Our secondary administration and staff are working on all the logistics of who we’re going to divide kids into equal cohorts,” he said.
The AM/PM Hybrid schedule format that is already in effect at elementary schools will be used on the upper grades. Administrators also have to make sure that there is 35 square feet of space per student in every classroom, as is required by the state of Oregon. Fritsch said the scheduling is also taking into consideration families with students in more than one school building.
“We’re going to try to coordinate those schedules, so their kids are either all in the morning or all in the afternoon,” he said.
Each group of secondary students will attend four class periods in their schools and then spend the rest of their school day either working on independent projects or utilizing distance learning. Meanwhile, the district is also hard at work with Mid-Columbia Bus to determine the transportation schedule.
