BAKER COUNTY – A Portland man, Mikhail Sergeyevich Yelkin (38), faces a slew of charges following the investigation of a single vehicle crash on Sunday, August 18, including the injury of 3 juveniles aged 9, 11 and 14 years old. The incident occurred at roughly 12:30 p.m. along Snake River Road near Moonshine Mine in Eastern Baker County. The official OSP description of the incident and subsequent charges (as provided in an August 19 media log) is as follows:
“OSP Fish and Wildlife assisted the BCSO on a single vehicle motor vehicle crash on Snake River Rd, near Moonshine Mine, BCSO investigated the motor vehicle crash and OSP Fish and Wildlife conducted a criminal investigation of the operator. Two juvenile passengers were transported, by ambulance, to Saint Alphonsus-Baker City, and one adult along with one juvenile passenger were transported by LifeFlight to Saint Alphonsus-Boise. The operator was arrested for DUII, DWS-Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering X4, Assault IV x 3 and Assault III and lodged at the BCJ.”
To clarify, the adult passenger lifeflighted to Saint Alphonsus in Boise was NOT Yelkin, but a different passenger in the vehicle.
