LA GRANDE – During the School Board meeting Wednesday night, an update was given on the free school lunch program for the La Grande School District. Chris Panike, business manager said there aren’t as many lunches being given out to students recently, even though the lunches are free to any child up to age 18. With the downward trend on students picking up lunches, this cost the district money Panike said, due to all the employees that take to make this program work. The meals are served from 11:30 to 1:00 Monday through Friday on day’s school, and can be picked up at the elementary schools in La Grande. A side note, the week of November 23rd, there will be no school or lunches served.
USDA notified the La Grande School District August 31st that children ages 0-18 may eat for FREE, during our current status with schools using the distance learning method. You do not need to show an ID Card. Just stop by one of the locations listed below between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday on day’s school is in session.
