GRANT COUNTY, Washington – Thirteen children were injured and transported to the hospital Monday evening following a bus crash near Mattawa.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said a pickup truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of Road 27 SW and Road O SW, striking the side of a Wahluke School District bus, causing it to roll.

A total of 17 students from grades K-8 were on the bus. The injured were taken to two separate hospitals in the Tri-Cities. None of the students sustained life-threatening injuries.

The bus driver was checked at the scene and declined further treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Low visibility due to extreme fog is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
