OREGON/WASHINGTON – Springtime in the Pacific Northwest often signals blooming flowers and warmer days ahead. It also means Oregon and Washington’s deadline to remove studded tires is fast approaching.
Studded tires must be removed by the end of the day – Sunday, March 31 to avoid a potential fine. This year’s removal date falls on Easter, which could mean some shops are closed, so travelers are urged to plan now. Idaho residents get some grace. The last day for studded tires there is April 30.
In Oregon, driving with studded tires after the deadline is a Class C violation and could result in a fine of nearly $200. In Washington, the potential fine is $137.
