PENDLETON – One lane of westbound traffic on Interstate 84 east of Pendleton on Cabbage Hill was closed due to a semi-truck that had ran off the road and proved difficult in getting removed.
Oregon State Police said they were dispatched at around 3:13 p.m. to mile marker 221 where the officer found the yellow Volvo semi wedged between the rock wall on the right-hand side of the road and the guardrail.
A local company was dispatched to remove the vehicle but was unable to do so without closing down one lane of traffic and using multiple tow trucks. It was decided to leave the semi until Monday when the proper equipment and personnel could be brought in.
A web camera on TripCheck.com showed the semi still there with one lane of traffic closed off at 10:42 a.m. Monday, but by 11:27 a.m. it showed the semi was no longer there and both lanes were open.
The driver of the semi was cited for failure to drive within lane and was given a courtesy ride to a local hotel.
