Structure Fire on Adams and 2nd in La Grande

LA GRANDE –

Update from City of La Grande Fire (March 22, 2026) This evening at approximately 5:35pm our department was dispatched to an apartment fire in the 1900 block of 2nd Street. Initial arriving crews were met with fire conditions in the attic, with some involvement in a second story apartment. All occupants were reported to be safely out of the building.

Crews worked late into the night to gain the upper hand on the fire, which had found its way into void spaces and difficult to reach areas. The fire was fully extinguished with fire damage contained mostly to the second floor apartment, attic and roof. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries to the occupants and crews returned safely. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

We had assistance from many of our valued mutual aid partners. Over 30 Fire and EMS personnel responded from 5 different agencies. Additionally we had assistance from several other agency partners outside of the Fire Service.
