WALLULA – The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office and Walla Walla County Fire District Number Five conducted a water rescue Tuesday night on the Walla Walla River.
Dispatch was notified of several people who were floating down the river east of Madame Dorian Memorial Park, located at Wallula Junction. The group got disoriented as the sun went down.
Having no lights, life vests or shoes with them, the group was unable to self-rescue and forced to call for help.
Firefighters launched a rescue boat and traveled about two miles up the river from the park before contacting the group.
