State launches U.S. 395 safety campaign north of Pasco

PASCO — State officials are launching a targeted safety campaign on U.S. Route 395 north of Pasco following a string of serious and fatal intersection collisions.

Troopers will conduct at least ten area patrols over the next several weeks to monitor the highway, focusing on driver education and enforcing a recently reduced speed limit.

The Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Transportation, and the Washington Traffic Safety Commission also released an educational video, https://youtu.be/ECmHIgYIoRU,  demonstrating how to safely use the highway’s acceleration and deceleration lanes.

Authorities say recent crashes at the Vineyard Road and Crestloch Road intersections have resulted in numerous casualties. Officials urge drivers to mind the new safety signage, monitor their speed, and carefully check traffic before entering or leaving the highway.
