HARNEY COUNTY-As wildfire operations and evacuation orders continue across Southeast Oregon, state insurance regulators have formally issued targeted protections for local residents and business owners impacted by active fires.
On Wednesday, August 12, the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) Division of Financial Regulation (DFR) published Bulletin No. DFR 2026-6, identifying specific ZIP codes across Harney County that fall under the state’s July 31 Wildfire Emergency Order.
he official directive, issued under Executive Order 26-10 and ORS 731.870 by Insurance Commissioner TK Keen, mandates immediate compliance from all admitted insurance companies operating within Oregon.
The Wildfire Emergency Order specifically applies to policyholders residing or operating businesses within the following Harney County ZIP codes:
Under the Wildfire Emergency Order, property and casualty insurance companies are required to implement immediate relief measures for residents and commercial policyholders within the designated ZIP codes.
State insurance regulators noted that as fire containment lines shift and local evacuation levels are modified by emergency personnel, the Division of Financial Regulation will update the list of covered ZIP codes as needed.
“As the wildfire situation changes and as evacuation orders continue to be adjusted, the division will make updates as needed to the listed ZIP codes on a timely basis,” Administrator TK Keen stated in the bulletin.
Local residents in Harney County currently affected by smoke, fire damage, or active evacuation warnings are encouraged to reach out directly to their insurance agents or insurance carriers to inquire about available emergency relief options.
