WEST RICHLAND – A three-hour standoff between Cody Garcia, 27, and police SWAT members ended peacefully Sunday. It happened at an apartment building at 531 S and 38th Avenue.
Officers responded to a domestic assault call at the complex. The woman living there had a protection order against Garcia, who was in her apartment. On-duty SWAT officers responded because it was considered possible that the suspect was armed.
Police reported it’s believed that Garcia was connected with a robbery at Walmart in Kennewick. Garcia left the apartment unarmed.
Police are charging him for failure to comply, a felony violation of a protection order, and felony first-degree robbery. Bail is set at $30,000, but a 72-hour hold was placed at the time of his booking late Sunday afternoon.
