NORTH POWDER– Speeding through a construction zone while intoxicated landed one man, 23-year-old Marco Antonio Sanchez Gomez in jail recently. According to reports from Oregon State Police in Union County, a traffic stop was initiated just after 4pm on Monday, August 26, on a “2012 maroon Ford Focus on I-84 East near mile maker 283, for violation of the posted speed limit in a construction zone. The driver was detained for failure to carry or present a license. The driver displayed signs of impairment and performed standardized field sobriety tests, where further signs of impairment were observed. Several open containers and empty beer cans were located within the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Union County Jail, where he provided a voluntary breath sample of 0.23% blood alcohol content. Subsequently, the driver was booked into the Union County Jail without incident. OSP ordered a non-preference tow to remove the vehicle and the passenger was provided a courtesy ride to town.”
At the time of this story, Marco Antonio Sanchez Gomez was no longer housed in the Union County Jail.
