MT. VERNON – UPDATE (5/18/23): According to wildcad.net, the blaze called the Spark Springs wildfire was first reported Wednesday at 6:51 a.m., and was contained yesterday afternoon around 1:55 p.m.

Blue Mountain Ranger District fire resources are responding to a human caused wildfire.
The fire is located approximately 10.5 miles south of Mount Vernon, near Percival Creek, off Forest Service Road 4955. The fire is reported to be 0.10 acre in size and burning within a landing slash pile. This fire is currently under investigation.
Resources are on scene utilizing full suppression tactics. Be prepared for increased traffic and smoke to be visible throughout the area, as resources continue mopping up over the next few days. The public is reminded to use caution if in the area, and always recreate responsibly.
