Soroptimist International of La Grande announces 2026 grant awardees

LA GRANDE – During a recent meeting, Soroptimist International of La Grande announced the 2026 awardees of its Community Benefit Grants Program. This year’s grant recipients are: 

  • Babies First/CaCoon
  • Blue Mountains Conservancy
  • Elevate Gymnastics
  • Friends of the Opera House
  • Island City Elementary School
  • La Grande Main Street Downtown-Shamrock Shuffle
  • Les Schwab & Elkhorn Media Toy Drive
  • Next Step Pregnancy & Relationship Center
  • Shelter from the Storm
  • Training & Employment Consortium (TEC)
  • Tribe MC Nomads Christmas Toy Drive
  • Union County CARE-Elgin Pool Passes
  • Union County CASA
  • Union County Special Olympics
  • Youth for Christ — Drop in Center

Around 50k total has been slated for all grantees this year. For those unfamiliar with the program, Soroptimist International of La grande gave the following explanation in a recent letter:

“Soroptimist International of La grande Community Benefits Grants support the mission of SILG to improve the lives of women and girls by investing in programs that lead to social and economic empowerment. Projects must be based in Union County Oregon supporting our mission and vision to empower women and girls through education or providing access to resources that help women and girls realize their goals and improve their quality of life.” 

Since its inception, the Community Benefit Grants Program has provided over $1 million dollars in grants.
