WEST RICHLAND, Washington – The Tri-City Area SWAT Team backed up West Richland police officers in arresting Kayden McMahon, 19, at his residence following an assault earlier Monday that stemmed from an argument on Snapchat, officials report.

When officers responded to the report of an assault at Timberline and Teak Avenue they found that the 19-year-old injured party tried to drive away in spite of suffering what police termed as serious injuries, but he crashed his vehicle. He was taken for treatment of a stab wound and head injuries.

The victim had gone to the residence to confront McMahon about statements he had made on Snapchat. The homeowner asked the victim to leave, and he did. However, police say it’s alleged that McMahon followed, confronting the victim a short distance away and assaulting him.

Monday night the SWAT and police officers served a search warrant at McMahon’s home. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is facing a charge of second-degree assault. He is being held at Benton County Jail on $20,000 bond.
