SNAP Recipients in Union County have extra time to report food lost during recent fires

UNION COUNTY – The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) recently announced that Union County residents who may have lost food purchased with Snap Benefits due to recent fires ore evacuations now have more time to request replacement benefits. Local households now have until August 14 to report food losses and request replacement SNAP benefits.
Union County is one of ten Oregon counties now eligible for the SNAP replacement extension in response to wildfires, the others being Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Jackson, Jefferson, Sherman, Umatilla, Wasco, and Wheeler Counties. Oregon residents outside the listed counties are subject to the standard deadline and must report food losses within 10-days of the original loss, and potentially provide proof.
ODHS Lists the following methods to request replacement benefits:
- Call 800-699-9075, relay calls welcome
- Visit a local ODHS office
- Fill out a replacement request form
- Online: Log in to your ONE Online account
- By mail*:

Once approved, replacement benefits are added to the household’s existing Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. The maximum replacement amount is the cost of the food lost, not to exceed the household’s normal monthly SNAP benefit.
