Slow start to Prairie City water meter project

PRAIRIE CITY – The City of Prairie City is moving forward on their new water meter project. Like every big project, there are delays. City Recorder Shonalie Oaks was on KJDY’s Coffee Time recently to explain some of the challenges:

“We’ve been getting our water meter project underway, which has been a little bit of a slow start with NEPA [National Environmental Policy Act]. So, there’s been a bit of a hang up on that, but hopefully we’ll get back on track with that very soon.”

The project includes updating the city’s water meters, which is expected to eventually soften residents’ monthly water/sewer bill.
