Slick roads cause multiple accidents in and around Grant County

GRANT COUNTY – Use extreme caution this morning. Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley is calling it deceptively slick out there. Sheriff McKinley said there has already been a bad accident on West Bench Road in John Day this morning, near Screech Alley. He didn’t release many details regarding the condition of those involved, as emergency response was still taking place. The road surfaces are still frozen and cold, and mixed with the warmer rain, it’s causing extremely slick conditions.

Grant Union Athletics Director Andy Lusco has informed our newsroom that a GUHS Wrestling bus was involved in an accident, and went off the road north of Meadowbrook Summit on U.S. Highway 395B. Mr. Lusco said all of the students and staff are safe and uninjured, and that a new bus is on its way to go get them. Also, Grant Union’s scheduled basketball trip to Stanfield has been cancelled,
