Slash pile burning planned near La Grande Friday morning. Expect visible smoke

LA GRANDE — A heads up for La Grande & Island City residents, The Oregon Department of Forestry will begin slash pile burning tomorrow morning (January 23) south of La Grande. Slash burning will begin in the late morning on Glass Hill, near the top of 12th Street.
Though smoke and flames may be visible, the local ODF office would like to remind residents that this is routine controlled burning and not an emergency.
