Slash pile burning is taking place in Harney County

HARNEY COUNTY (Released by Burns Interagency Fire Zone)-It’s PILE BURNING season across Harney County and we may start lighting as soon as conditions allow!

Slash pile burning is one of the most common wood-waste disposal methods used in fuels management today. “Slash” is generally woody debris left over from salvage logging or fuels reduction treatments. Piles are burned in specific weather conditions and are an effective and efficient way to help maintain balanced and healthy ecosystems.
