PENDLETON – The public hearing on changes to the city of Pendleton’s sidewalk stamp preservation ordinance was delayed Tuesday. City Manager Robb Corbett said it was discovered just three hours before the meeting was to begin that there could be flaws in the wording of the changes.
“The way that we had worded the ordinance was specific to historic monuments, but because we lumped in survey monuments and handled those the same way, we actually weren’t following the law,” Corbett explained.
He said he was leaving Pendleton City Hall at 4:30 p.m. when he learned of the problem.
“We didn’t have enough time to make the correction, so I asked the council to postpone the public hearing for the next meeting to make sure that we’re in compliance,” he said.
The next meeting of the city council is at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19.
