(Press Release from the La Grande Police Department)

Last night (02.17.24) at 12:32AM, our officers responded to the 3200 block of Alder Street in La Grande for multiple reports of gunshots in the area.  Officers arrived shortly after receiving the call and made contact with several juveniles and young adults who were in the area.  The investigating officers learned there was initially a verbal altercation between teenagers and one person pulled a .22 caliber rifle out of a vehicle and fired multiple shots into the air.  The altercation did get physical at one point and one adult was punched in the face, but did not sustain any injuries.  Several of the involved persons left prior to the police arriving on scene.  Officers collected multiple spent .22 caliber casings in the area, which were seized as evidence.  The investigating officers are continuing to interview witnesses and collect home security video.  This is an active investigation and further information will be provided when available. If anyone has any information to assist with this investigation, they are encouraged to contact Ofc. Aaron Clark at the La Grande Police Department (541-963-1017).
