LA GRANDE – Students from local schools in La Grande were chosen to participate in the Shop with a Cop program. The event will be held at Walmart December 9th beginning at 11 am. Approximately 30 volunteers will be helping this year. According to Lieutenant Jason Hays of the La Grande Police Department, each student will be paired with a police officer and will be given $150 to buy Christmas presents for their family while spending quality one-on-one time with an officer during the fun event. Each student will be treated to lunch (Provided by Dominos and Coca-Cola) and volunteers will wrap their Christmas presents for them. This year’s event is made possible by Walmart, Loveland’s Funeral Home, Domino’s Pizza, Coca-Cola and local community members who donate generously throughout the year.
