Shooting was a family dispute

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department reports that a shooting at 12:10 p.m. Friday appears to have been a family dispute. Officers responded to a shots fired call at 911 Stadium Drive and learned that two subjects inside the house had been shot. The suspect in the shooting was taken into custody without incident. He is identified as Stephen Allen Taylor, 47, of Walla Walla.

His brother, a 43-year-old man was injured and was immediately taken by medics to an area hospital for treatment of an apparent gunshot wound. Officers then located the father, Gerald Taylor, 72, who was deceased, inside the home.

Officers immediately locked down the area and called out the Major Crimes Unit detectives who worked with the Street Crimes Unit throughout the night processing the scene.

In a news release, WWPD reports that Stephen Allen Taylor has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault. He is lodged at the Walla Walla County J ail. The investigation will continue through the weekend.
