Shirtless male with bayonet arrested in Canyon City

CANYON CITY – (Press release from Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley)
“On the morning of October 13th near 900 am, reports were received of a shirtless male with a short sword walking south bound near the Grant Union High School.
The individual was not located in the area and the High School and Junior High were locked down out of an abundance of caution.
Information was obtained that the individual, Jacob Brown, 33 of Dayville had been picked up nearby by a passerby, and given a ride to the Grant County Court House. Brown was then taken into custody by Deputies at the Court House on outstanding warrants.
The “sword”, a long bayonet, was recovered.
No students or other persons were threatened and the lockdown was lifted.”
