The action by the Sherman County GOP organization was sent to the Oregon Republican Party State Central Committee, the Second Congressional District Republican Party, the Republican Caucus of the Oregon House of Representatives, all Republican Party Central Committees in House District 57, and to Rep. Greg Smith.
The full communication is:
Sherman County Republican Central Committee is writing this letter in support of Morrow County Central Committee Resolution 26-01, Calling for the Resignation of State Representative Greg Smith.
The Sherman County Central Committee agrees with all points as presented in the Resolution and is now also calling for Representative Greg Smith to resign his position.
Oregon Republican Party Platform, adopted September 27, 2025, declares that “those entrusted with public office are stewards of the people’s trust and resources,” and Ethical governance is constitutionally limited and protects inalienable individual rights.”
If Representative Smith refuses to resign, the Sherman County Republican Party also urges the Oregon Republican Party State Central Committee and Executive Committee to:
Publicly censure Representative Smith for conduct unbecoming of a Republican elected official;
Withhold any and all party support, financial or otherwise, from Representative Smith’s future candidacies;
Actively recruit and support a primary challenger to Representative Smith in the 2026 Republican primary election.
We, the undersigned members of the Sherman County Republican Central Committee, approve this letter as written and signed electronically.
